🐹Whack-a-Mole

30 seconds, nine holes, endless moles — how fast are your reflexes?

About this game

Whack-a-Mole brings the carnival classic to your screen. Moles pop out of nine holes at random; tap them before they duck back down. You have exactly 30 seconds, and the moles get faster and sneakier as your score climbs — by the final seconds they barely surface at all.

It looks silly, but it's a legitimate reflex and hand-eye coordination drill: you must detect movement in your peripheral vision, decide, and strike in a few hundred milliseconds, over and over. Play a round as a quick energy break — it's hard to finish one without smiling.

How to play

  1. Press Start to begin the 30-second round.
  2. Tap / click a mole 🐹 while it's above ground to score a point.
  3. Moles pop up faster and hide quicker as your score grows.
  4. When time runs out, your score is compared with your saved best.

Tips & strategy

  • Rest your eyes on the center hole and use peripheral vision to catch movement.
  • On a phone, play with two thumbs and split the board into left/right zones.
  • Don't chase a mole that's already dropping — line up for the next one instead.
  • Rhythm beats rage: fast, light taps outscore frantic smashing.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a mole stay up?

At the start, roughly a second; past 20 points it can be as short as 0.4 seconds, so you'll need genuine reflexes to keep scoring.

Is there a penalty for missing?

No — wild clicks don't subtract points, but the time you waste flailing is a penalty in itself.

What's a good score?

20+ is solid, 30+ is quick, and past 40 you may have a future in carnival games.
