Reaction Time Test

Measure your visual reaction speed in milliseconds — 5 rounds, instant results.

About this game

How fast do you really react? This test measures the time between a visual signal — the screen turning green — and your click. You get five rounds; your average is your official result, and your best average is saved so you can track improvement over time.

Typical human visual reaction time is around 200–270 milliseconds, and roughly a quarter of a second is considered good. Esports players and fighter pilots often test under 200 ms. Beware the fake-out: click before the green appears and the round resets — patience is part of the skill.

How to play

  1. Click the panel to start. It turns red: wait.
  2. The moment it turns green, click as fast as you can.
  3. Clicking during red counts as a false start and restarts the test.
  4. After 5 valid rounds, you get your average and a grade.

Tips & strategy

  • Keep your finger resting on the mouse button / screen — travel time is wasted time.
  • Focus on the center of the panel and let your peripheral vision trigger you.
  • Don't try to predict the timing; the delay is random on purpose.
  • Test when fresh — fatigue and caffeine visibly change your numbers.

Frequently asked questions

What's an average reaction time?

Around 250 ms for a visual stimulus for most adults. Under 220 ms is fast; under 180 ms on this kind of test is exceptional.

Why is my result worse than my real reflexes?

The measured time includes your display's refresh delay, input latency and browser processing — usually adding 20–50 ms. Compare results on the same device.

Can reaction time be trained?

Modestly. Practice, sleep, and alertness improve consistency more than raw speed — most gains come from eliminating slow outliers.
