About this game
Memory Match (also known as Concentration or Pairs) is a classic card game that doubles as a genuine memory workout. All cards start face-down; each turn you flip two. If they match, they stay open — if not, they flip back, and it's up to you to remember what was where.
Choose between a relaxed 4×4 board, a 6×4 board, or a challenging 6×6 board with 18 pairs. The game tracks your moves and time, and stores your best result for each size. Playing a few rounds a day is a light, fun way to exercise concentration and visual memory for both kids and adults.
How to play
- Tap any card to flip it over, then tap a second card.
- If the two cards match, they stay face-up.
- If they don't match, they flip back after a moment — memorize them!
- Find all pairs to win. Fewer moves = better score.
Tips & strategy
- Say the card's position to yourself ('banana, top-left') — verbal encoding sticks better.
- Open unknown cards first; only 'spend' known cards when you can complete a pair.
- Scan systematically row by row instead of flipping randomly.
- On the 6×6 board, focus on remembering one region at a time.
Frequently asked questions
Does this game really train memory?
Short-term visual memory and concentration do improve with practice at matching games. It's a light exercise, not a medical treatment — but it's a much better break than doom-scrolling.
What counts as one move?
Flipping any two cards counts as one move, whether or not they match.
Which board should beginners pick?
Start with 4×4 (8 pairs). Under 12 moves is impossible in theory — a great 4×4 result is 12–16 moves.
